Haoyu “Novak” Chen

My research interests center on how neural population activity is organized in time, and how its geometry and dynamics relate to behavior and memory. I use statistical modeling and machine learning to analyze neural recordings, imaging, and behavior, with an emphasis on interpretable methods.

I currently work with Dr. Attila Losonczy in the Program in Memory Longevity and previously worked with Dr. René Hen at Columbia University. I earned an M.A. in Statistics at Columbia under Dr. Liam Paninski and a B.A. in Mathematics and Geographic Information Systems at Clark University.
